Aspiring Singers of Tomorrow (ASOT) is a new scholarship program for young Portuguese classical singers.
The founders of ASOT, with over 25 years of experience in classical music, have made it their mission to to find and support the most talented young artists in and from Portugal on a yearly basis. This will provide each singer with individual and unique assistance in launching their career in the international market.
Each year, beginning in November, singers between the ages of 22 and 32 with Portuguese nationality are invited to apply for the following year. The applications will be judged by an international jury of experts, and four participants will be chosen. The participants will receive a stipendium to cover their living expenses during the ASOT program.
The ASOT program takes place each July, and consists of three main elements:
- Special Masterclasses and Workshops led by international artists in three disciplines:
- Stage presence and interpretation
- Vocal coaching for enlarging both the participants’ repertoire and vocal ability
- „Collaborating Backstage “, a special workshop that deals with the integration of necessary skills, both onstage and backstage.
- At the end of the Masterclasses and Workshops there will be a number of concerts featuring operatic, concert and song repertoire, so that the program participants can introduce themselves and their refined abilities to large audiences.
- The individual, tailor-made presentation for each participant on ASOT’s Social Media channels is a deciding link to today’s international market. An individual backstory, interesting personal details and a unique presentation of the artist’s life and career are essential in establishing recognition in the music business of today.
Beginning in the Spring of 2025, singers of Portuguese nationality between the ages of 22 and 32 who want to pursue a career in classical music are invited to apply to ASOT- Aspiring Singers of Tomorrow. This is a new Scholarship Program that will take place yearly in Lisbon. Participants will attend Masterclasses taught by international, established singers, as well as perform in concerts in front of large audiences. We will begin in July of 2025 with one week of instruction classes, followed by a Gala concert with orchestra. We plan to grow and expand starting in 2026: our goal is a yearly increase in instruction and concerts for our participants, so that our artists will have the chance to appear in front of 10,000 people each year. To this end, we plan on developing ASOT on Tour throughout Portugal, to built a strong and supportive bond between our artists and the audiences throughout Portugal.
